Beauty tips for Teens

It all about experimentation when you’re a teenager. Well experimentation, and spots. Now is a good time to establish a skincare routine, not just to contain the outbreaks, but also as a future insurance policy. Don’t treat your skin harshly; instead, keep it clean and exfoliate gently twice a week to lift dirt and dead skin cells. If and when you do get outbreaks, don’t attack them with your nails. Young skin has high levels of collagen; it heals fast, but it also scars more than older skin. Instead, treat them with a good anti-blemish product and cover up with a small amount of concealer, using a clean cotton bud rather than a finger to minimise infection.

Avoid junk food and don’t go on mad diets. There’s nothing the body hates more than being deprived of vital nutrients at this crucial stage. The real secret to looking good is to take care of yourself with a balanced diet and plenty of exercise. As to make-up, no teenager actually needs it to improve their appearance – youth is beauty enough. Really, it’s just about having fun with colour. Avoid piling it on lips and cheeks (this will only make you look tarty and infuriate your mother); instead, experiment with bold eye shades. It’s also a good time to start getting to grips with various techniques, such as how to apply liquid eyeliner or nail polish. You know what they say: practice makes perfect.
